Principal Investigator – Assistant Professor

Sebastian grew up in Tours (France), where he first studied Pharmacy. In parallel, he joined Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris, France), where he majored in Biology. Sebastian obtained his Ph.D. in 2016 (Université Pierre-et-Marie Curie, Paris, France), under the supervision of Dr. Louis Lambrechts at the Institut Pasteur. His Ph.D. work was focused on the interaction between mosquitoes and flaviviruses and its impact on virus transmission and evolution. He then joined the group of Prof. Philippe Lemey (KU Leuven, Belgium) as a postdoc where he worked on various (computational) aspects of virus evolution. He joined the University of Groningen in April 2020.
