Opportunities
Thanks for your interest in joining our group. We present opportunities here based on your current scientific journey.
Availabilities
We currently do not have any funded opportunities. See below for more information!
Postdocs
In the Netherlands, there are two main ways to secure funding for a postdoc: either through the PI (grant) or independently through a fellowship/personal grant.
We currently have no available funding for postdocs. If funding is available through a grant we obtained, this will be added on this page. To set up your own project, several opportunities exist. In the Netherlands, the NWO Talent Programme Veni aims to help you develop your research ideas and transition to independence. On the European scale, the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships or the EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships could be interesting opportunities. Alternatively, the HFSP Postdoctoral fellowships can also provide funding if you are moving between areas of study.
Note
Writing a fellowship application is time-consuming and demanding, and it has strict deadlines (usually once a year). These fellowships are also very competitive. If you are interested in applying, please contact Sebastian well in advance so we can discuss your ideas. We are always happy to support your application and offer guidance and advice to improve your chances.
PhD students
In the Netherlands, there are two main ways to secure funding for a PhD position: either through the PI (grant) or independently through a scholarship.
We currently have no funding available for PhD students. If funding is available through a grant we obtained, this will be added on this page. There are plenty of scholarships, usually depending on your country of origin. If you are considering applying to one, please contact Sebastian in advance so we can discuss your ideas. We are always happy to sponsor/support your application and offer guidance and advice.
MSc students (University of Groningen)
If you are a student at the University of Groningen and interested in joining the group for a research project, please contact Sebastian to discuss available projects. We are also open to listening to your own ideas for projects; if they align with our core interests (see here), there is a high chance that you can do it here!
Other students and visitors
We can also host students for research projects coming from other universities, either locally (e.g. Hanze University of Applied Science) or internationally. Please contact Sebastian to discuss available projects. We are also open to listening to your own ideas for projects; if they align with our core interests (see here), there is a high chance that you can do it here! We do not have dedicated funding for this, but in case of mutual interest, we are always happy to provide letters of support for funding opportunities you identified.
As a visitor, if you are interested in joining our group for a research visit, contact Sebastian to discuss availability. We do not have dedicated funding for this, but in case of mutual interest, we are always happy to provide letters of support for funding opportunities you identified.
